I saw alot of this coming in the United States even back in 2008 when that September I was touring with my group Global Noize doing 25 shows in 27 days from Colorado and winding up in Santa Barbara, Ca We just left Denver and the Democratic Convention where Obama was nominated. They were selling T shirts across the street of Obama for $1. Leftovers from the convention. A few days later we were on our way to Moscow ,Idaho and after a beautiful ride through the Mts and Cour d´ Lain we stopped at a convienient store. The band was made up of 1 female singer from India,3 black musicians 2 white guys and a Columbian. I walked in and was totally freaked out. There were a group of Neo Nazis in the store. Swastikas,Tatoos ,etc .I turned around went back to the van and told everybody dont get out of the van. I truly was scared. Their vibe was angry and I got a few items and left. I couldnt believe I was in the US. I knew things were bad..but not this bad. The Image of those guys still stays with me
When Trump was elected in 2016 I knew big changes and not necessarily for the better were coming. I was right. After a couple of great tours and production work in Europe over the next couple of years I told my wife we should think about movimg . She agreed. The vibe there though not perfect met our feelings of how we wanted to live our lives. So to cut to the chase after some very hard work to get here we are now in Portugal for the last 3 years. It isnt perfect of course but its giving us what we were looking for --A bit of Calmness and inspiration. I've gotten that as well as new bursts of creativity.
Chuck Mangione recently passed away and I recorded this song Doing Everything With You from his album Main Squeeze solo on Fended Rhodes Piano. It is on my BandCamp Page. For thoses that want to support my work you can purchase the download otherwise on the 19th it will be on all streaming services. Seeing the events recently in the US I think this recodring will convey a sense of peace and tranquility for you. I found some of that here in Poerugal and the best way for me to share it with you is through Music. I think about our friends in the US and truly hope and care that you are safe .
